Orlando's theme parks see dramatically different crowd levels throughout the year. Understanding these patterns can mean the difference between walking onto rides and waiting 90 minutes in line. The quietest times at Orlando's theme parks are typically mid-January through mid-February (after the holiday rush), mid-September through early October (after summer and before Halloween events ramp up), and the first two weeks of December before Christmas week. During these windows, wait times for popular attractions can be half or even a third of what they are during peak periods.
The most crowded periods include the week between Christmas and New Year's (the single busiest week of the year), Spring Break weeks from mid-March through mid-April, Memorial Day through Labor Day (summer), Thanksgiving week, and special event weekends like Marathon Weekend in January. If you must visit during these periods, weekdays are significantly less crowded than weekends.
Orlando has a subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild, pleasant winters. Summer temperatures regularly reach the high 80s to low 90s°F with frequent afternoon thunderstorms. Winter highs are typically in the mid-60s to low 70s°F with very little rain. Spring and fall offer the most comfortable weather, with temperatures in the 70s and 80s and lower humidity. The most rainfall occurs from June through September, so pack a poncho if visiting during those months.
Arrive at park opening (rope drop) for the shortest wait times of the day. Midweek days (Tuesday through Thursday) are typically less crowded than weekends. Use early entry perks if your resort offers them. Visit water rides during cooler mornings when lines are shorter. Consider visiting during special events in the evening when day guests have left.
